Dr. FAWZI OUSSEDIK

Dr. Fawzi Oussedik is world known expert, professor and distinguished author in the field of International Humanitarian Law. He is Member of National Committee for International Humanitarian Law in Qatar, President of Islamic Forum on International Humanitarian Law (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), and Head of International Cooperation and International Humanitarian Law Department at Qatar Red Crescent. He was Dean at Faculty of Law at University of Blinda in Algeria (1999-2000). He currently resides in Doha (Qatar).

He started his formal education in Algeria, and academic specialization in the field of law continued in Egypt (University Ayn al-Shams), Italy and France, while defended his PhD thesis at Law Faculty at University of Oran in Algeria on „Application of International Humanitarian Law and Its Impact on Sovereignty Principle“. His path of academic and professional growth included appointments on positions of Assistant, Associate Professor, and Visiting Professor at universities in Algeria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Qatar and Uganda; membership and positions of Secretary General, Head and President of various national and international organizations, societies, committees, etc. in the field of Law, Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Additionally, contribution of Dr. Oussedik is reflected by his participation in various seminars, conferences, educational programs, as well as in engegement in prepration of laws in mentioned fields in Algeria and Switzerland (IDLR). His professional engagement and significant contribution in the field of humanitarian law was recognized and awarded many times by leading organizations, councils, and ministries for human rights, in both Arab world and internationallay (Decoration of Italian Red Cross, Mongolia,Venezuela,Togo, Guinea, and so on).

Dr. Oussedik is an author of several prominent works in the field of human rights and rights in general. It stands out in particular book „Introduction in International Humanitarian Law“ that was translated in Bosnian in 2011 when Bosnian public had an opportunity meet work and personality of Dr. Oussedik.
